POY News

We were so pleased to see some of you at Vision Day. It was a day of learning what a vision is, what relationship we have with our own vision, and what we dream of for our future. Hopefully that dream will be warmer than the venue. It was a wonderful day, hosted by Campfire and catered for by the Real Junk Food Project thanks to all who came along.

POY has been working closely with EY on the Vantage Program since 2013 and we are excited to see the affect the program has on high impact entrepreneurs in the developing world. Check out this article, which tells you all about it.

The applications for the next Vantage cycle are now open so if want to be a part of it apply here or contact the team.

We went to West Brewery in Glasgow as part of our Beautiful Business Workshop series in partnership with Entrepreneurial Scotland. The theme of the day was empowering people in business and we loved seeing so many of you there.

The POY team are pleased to announce that we have a shiny new website for you all! The Power of Youth website features all the work we are doing, how you can get involved and the impact our work has to the world. Our Metta Network site will remain the home for our Ambassadors where you can log in, create your profiles, chat with each other, get inspired and a lot more.

Luis Moreno, whose beautiful handmade Mamahuhu shoes are taking over the world a shoe at a time, at the drop of a hat flew to New York City amidst an incredible snow storm to participate in the Growth Navigator session hosted by EY. Check out his NYC story here.

Neil McInnes has become our very first Edinburgh based Host Entrepreneur for our entrepreneur exchange programme. Here is a little something from Neil that warmed our hearts:
“Martins started work with us last week and MAGIC has been happening ever since. We are moving at warp speed developing an experimental version of some of the key parts of Umega’s service… We have quickly become a DREAM TEAM and we’re only just getting started.”
For more information on how you can get your very own Martins, email Hannah.

We were so pleased to see Jude Ower‘s name in this year’s honours list for her services to entrepreneurship. Jude, huge congratulations to you and your team at PlayMob for your MBE, we’re proud to know you.

Callum Murray travelled down to London to participate in EY Growth Navigator programme that aims to give real clarity around your strategic priorities and challenges.

“I learned a huge amount. Firstly, no one at EY is ‘a grey anonymous consultant.’ The growth navigator process pulled out at least 4 key immediate actions which I’ve taken back to get fixed and add instant value”

Cally Russell made it onto the 2016 30 under 30 Forbes list. Well done for getting such recognition for all your work.

Essential Reading

Daring Greatly

Daring Greatly by Brené Brown, is a powerful book that encourages us to embrace vulnerability and imperfection, to live wholeheartedly, and to courageously engage in our lives to transform the way we live and lead. Brené also does an absolutely dynamite Ted Talk on this very topic.

Till next time and keep doing what you are doing, Team POY
